An Easter Feast
I learned something new today... For the citizens of one South American country, Iguanas, Turtles and Giant Rodents are the key to a proper Easter feast. I hardly know what to say except isn't it illegal yet? The thought of turtle soup makes me sad.

Cute Turtle Statue of the Day
I just wanted to post a few pictures my friend Jessica sent me of a cute turtle statue / sculpture in Oregon. Jessica writes a great blog to which you can check out by clicking here. I love that no matter where she is, if she sees a turtle... she sends me a picture. Thank you Jessica!

The World's Sea Turtles on a Map
I've been looking for a map of all the turtle nesting locations in the world, because I thought a link to that would be a nice, fun, easy post for the turtle nesting season. It turns out, such things are not so easy to find. However, this map entitled The State of the World's Sea Turtles is pretty darn close and will likely continue to develop into an even more comprehensive source. I wish they showed both the common and scientific names for each species, but either way it has an amazing amount of data on the number of female turtles at each site and how many laid eggs (clutches) there. Pokey and I highly recommend you head over and check it out.

Live Turtle Keychains?!
The word is that you can buy a live Brazilian turtle while waiting for the subway in China. The sellers are stating that the colored water they're floating in is nutrient rich. Whoop-de-doo! One baggie of water and vitamins... how long can a baby survive on that? Perhaps an upcoming mob of disgruntled customers will put a stop to this before the animal protection agencies can persuade the Chinese government to care. I hope so.
